Over a year ago I made a conscious choice to cancel my cable TV services and for the most part stop watching TV.  Why?  I wanted to delete everything from my life that was negative around me; all that was on the television had to do with murders, or fighting, or disasters where people are being killed. I did put it on if I wanted to watch something specific but that is all. After watching these shows for a while they can really bring you down.  When you watch an inspirational movie or show, or something with upbeat music you come away feeling good.  You’re not dragging yourself off the couch.  There is enough negativity in this world without having it fed to me. Of course with the cost of cable, it wasn’t to my benefit to keep it.

I made a conscious choice to do that for myself, and I have not regretted it at all.  There have been a few people who have made derogatory statements but that is their problem not mine.

Recently I was offered a great deal for satellite TV.  So I took the deal to try it out.  Technically I haven’t watched TV except for Hockey Games for over a year.  I have realized now that I don’t miss it and I don’t want it.  I keep forgetting that I even have all the channels to watch.  If I want the news I get it whenever I want up to the minute on the internet.  I pretty much get to see anything I am interested in on the internet.  I choose what I want to see.

Never give up your right to choose.  This gives you empowerment.  If you let someone else choose for you, you have just given up your right, your empowerment, and what ever happens you have no say in the matter.  I feel that whether I am right or wrong if I made the conscious choice and effort I can carry my head up high.  When you give up your right and everything goes wrong, how do you feel?  Personally I would rather be wrong but know that I tried my best, than know in my heart I didn’t even try.

All of the above comes down to Attitude.  I made a conscious choice to rid the negativity that surrounds me.  In turn that helps me have a Positive Attitude.

Empowerment feels good. It boosts your self-esteem.  When you give that away, what does it do to your positive Attitude?  What about your self-esteem?

When living authentically you always have a choice.  My choice is Empowerment and a Positive Attitude.

Never say “I didn’t have a choice.”  You always have a choice.
