In my very first post “What does Spirituality Mean to You?” I ended with the following:

Practicing Gratitude everyday does wonders to keep you upbeat and stress levels way down.  I wrote a three-line poem to remind me to be grateful everyday.

Start everyday as if it is your first
Embrace everyday as if it is your last
End everyday with gratitude for the blessings of the day!

This three-line poem is also part of my signature on all my emails I send out.  It is a way for me to remember to be grateful everyday. 

When you express gratitude everyday it is very hard to think negative thoughts.  Your gratitude helps to overpower any negative thoughts.  This then uplifts you and helps you to always have positive thoughts.   Science has proven that people who express their gratitude daily are 25% happier and significantly healthier than those who don’t –  and doing it takes as little as a minute a day!!!

We have a tendency to think about what is not working in our lives;  a stressful job, traffic jams, etc…, that we ignore what is good in our lives; a good-morning sun from your 2yr old as she opens one of your eyelids,  a walk in the park with your dog,  Thursday Girls/Boys night outs, etc…… Now savor them and give Thanks for them.

Another way I try to be grateful everyday is through GratitudeLog.com.  I have a link to it on the side of the page.  It is a community where you can post what you are thankful for each day.  I admit I forget some days.  This is where they are wonderful.  They will send you a very light-hearted email reminder with a link directly to your front page.  How easy is that?  They are a breath of fresh air, and if you are not sure what to write, which happens, you can just read some of the other posts and in no time you are inspired.
